Are Shimano Deore gears any good?
Are Shimano Deore gears any good?
Overall, we’ve been very impressed by the entry level Deore 12-speed group, so far. Shimano did a great job of bringing their 1×12 technology to a more budget-conscious crowd. Having the ability to own a 1×12 with a 510% gear range, 4-piston brakes, and nice cranks without selling a kidney is a huge plus.
What is the difference between Deore and Deore XT?
Deore XT carries the big advantage of having the Shadow Plus technology (link), unlike the Deore which in the best case has the Shadow compact design. Simply put, the XT works faster, more accurately, more silently and doesn’t need regular service for adjustement.

The net result is that LX shifts remarkably better than Deore XT, which shifts slightly better than XTR. Deore LX is by far, the best shifting off-road group that Shimano sells. Hone and Deore LX share the same crank, Dual-Control shifters, disc brake calipers, and bottom bracket.
Is Shimano Deore entry level?
Deore is aimed at the entry to an intermediate level mountain biker and is perhaps the most popular too. Deore is durable, reliable, and features much of the technology found on the more expensive SLX and XT. Deore is Shimano’s first Groupset to offer a clutch-equipped rear derailleur.
What is the latest Deore?
Deore M6100
Shimano Deore has made the jump to 12-speed with the new Deore M6100 mountain bike groupset, adopting nearly all of the tech seen on the brand’s higher-tier options and getting a premium-looking finish that belies its affordable price point.
Is Deore the same as SLX?
Shimano SLX is also a killer value and sees a bit of weight savings over the cheaper Deore groupset. Much of the weight is in the rear cassette that gets an alloy cog and carrier compared to the steel Deore option. Looks get a bit cleaner and materials also get a slight improvement.
