How much money do you have to raise for the Pan-Mass Challenge?
PMC 2021 routes and minimums range from $1,000 to $6,000 – view the routes and minimums by map or by chart. Choose a route that fits your schedule, cycling ability and fundraising capacity. Riders who register earlier in the year are generally the most successful at fundraising and training, so start fundraising early!
Is Pan-Mass Challenge Cancelled?
Due to social distancing caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic, the annual Pan-Mass Challenge bike-a-thon has been canceled this year for the first time in its 40-year history. In its place is an adapted interactive experience that participants can engage in from their homes on Aug. 1.

How many riders does PMC have?
The idea for the PMC was born in 1977, when Starr and a few friends rode to the tip of Cape Cod in memory of his mother, who died of melanoma at the age of 49. It has grown to the nation’s largest single-day athletic fundraiser, with more than 10,000 volunteers and riders on 12 routes ranging from 25 to 192 miles.

Why is it called Jimmy Fund?
The fund was named after a patient who was named “Jimmy” to protect his identity – his real name was Einar Gustafson and his identity was revealed in 1998. On May 22, 1948, “Jimmy,” inspired a movement on Truth or Consequences, a national radio program hosted by Ralph Edwards.
