Are membership fees tax deductible? Yes, your membership fees are tax deductible. As a member of Oakland Zoo, you are also a member of the Conservation Society of California, which is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. Our tax number is 94-1687847.

Can I bring my own food to Oakland Zoo?

Yes you can! In addition to the food options inside the Zoo, visitors are welcome to bring their own food and use the picnic tables and benches, sprawl out in the meadow, or rent one of our picnic sites. Alcohol is not permitted at the zoo.

How much time do you need at the Oakland Zoo?

We usually spend 3 or 4 hours there. over a year ago. The zoo itself is comparatively small. I’d suggest about 3-4 hours total, depending on how long you stay in each section or whether the kids want to ride the rides.

Can I bring my own stroller to Oakland Zoo?

A unique trait of Oakland Zoo is that it’s built into the landscape of the Oakland Hills. Keep your eyes open because you might even stumble upon secret trails throughout the zoo. Because of its size, if your kiddos burn energy fast, be sure to bring a stroller or rent one there (single stroller $7; double $9).

Is Oakland Zoo open during Covid?

Oakland Zoo is reopening to the public on February 3rd (for daytime visits). Our online reservations / ticketing system for daytime reservations will be live on Tuesday February 2 @ 12:00 pm PST. Tickets will not be available for booking / purchase until then.

Gondola. Our ADA-accessible, all-electric, eight-passenger gondolas transport guests on a four-minute ride, from the main Zoo, up and over the rolling hills of Knowland Park to California Trail.

Are strollers allowed at Oakland Zoo?

Strollers and Wheelchairs are available for rent at the Gift Shop.

Can you write off museum memberships?

Yes you can deduct the Museum Membership Fees as long as they are under the 501(3)c guidelines to accept donations giving you the donor the benefit of deducting the donation at tax time. Write down dates , amounts and canceled check numbers, because if the IRS does an audit, they want proof of donation.

How much is the Oakland Zoo gondola ride?

First, a trip to the zoo for two adults who drove will already run you $54 right off the bat, because admission is $22 per person and it’s $10 to park. (While the ski-lift-esque Sky Ride that goes over the bison pen costs $3, the gondola to the Landing Cafe is free.)
