Are there ratings for songs?
Music is rated by the artists who make it and their labels. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) calls it the “Parental Advisory Label Program” — that’s PAL for short. That was true when the MPAA launched its movie ratings system and it’s certainly true for music labeling.
What is Sonemic?
The meaning of Sonemic comes from an interview with Brian Eno, in which he suggested that the word “music” was too limited in scope, and suggested the term “sonema” to refer to the broader sense of “sonic immersion and environment”. Thus “Sonemic” is an allusion to “sonema”, much like “musical” would be to “music”.
