What does service SETA do?

The Services SETA bridges the gap between the formal education and training system and the workplace by facilitating and funding learning programmes that build skills-set required by industries (the world of work).

How do I apply for SETA services?

  1. SUBMIT. – Send a Letter of Intent email to [email protected] only if applying for a full qualification with Services SETA.
  2. COMPLETE & UPLOAD.
  3. OUTCOME. – Once evaluation is complete, the Services SETA sends a recommendation for accreditation to QCTO for full qualifications.

How much is SETA stipend?

In terms of the agreement, Service Seta will pay a monthly stipend of R3 000 to each intern as part of the training to gain the much-needed work experience. Approximately R1 637 500 has been allocated to this programme to enable the students to complete their National Diploma (N6).

What does service SETA bursary cover?

The Services SETA bursary will cover either full or partial amounts of the following study related expenses: tuition fees, prescribed textooks, accommodation and meals (unemployed students only), as well as a travel and research allowance (Masters and PhD students only).

Do you get paid for in service training?

10.2 Students undergoing Voluntary In – service Training shall not be paid a stipend. These trainees shall not be compensated by the Department whilst they are obtaining work experience in the Department for the full duration of the training programme.

How do I get funding from Seta?

In order for the levy paying employers to qualify to receive the mandatory grants, they have to meet the following criteria:

  1. Be an up-to-day levy-payer that is registered in terms of the Skills Development Levies Act.
  2. Employ a skills development facilitator (SDF).
  3. The WSP and ATR are submitted by the required deadline.

How do I get money from Seta?

Applications for Discretionary Grants must be made and approved by Services SETA before any training or other activity related to the skills development project applied for can commence. The Discretionary Grant applications must be submitted to Services SETA by the date specified in the Request for Proposals.

How does SETA funding work?

Mandatory Grants are paid by the MICT SETA to companies who are eligible to receive funding. They are calculated at 20% of an employer’s 1% skills levy. To claim back the 20% as a mandatory grant employers have to submit a Workplace Skills Plan and an Annual Training Report before 30 April every year.

Do learnerships pay UIF?

1% UIF will be deducted from the learners prior to stipends being paid. 1% UIF deducted from stipend is then paid to the Employer via Finance.

How do you get a Seta bursary?

Qualifying and applying for the bursary household income threshold e.g., an annual household income of less than R350 000. proof of studying a discipline relevant to that industry e.g., the SETA for the mining sector (the MQA) requires one to be studying towards a mining related discipline.

Do you get paid less during training?

Yes, trainees do get a paycheck, however, most trainees earn less than entry-level employees during this period by earning a minimum wage. The general duration of a training position can last from about nine to 24 months. While the wage is low for trainees, it is nevertheless a temporary wage.

Do you get paid for training before a job?

Legally, you do not have to pay employees if they request time off for training or study that isn’t required for them to carry out their job. So, employees should be paid for any time that’s taken to undertake this.
