VWP – Is the accepted byword by homebrewers for efficient cleaning and sterilising to the highest required standard and is used by homebrew enthusiasts with confidence. VWP – VWP formula includes ingredients which lifts soiling from surfaces, eradicates bacteria and spoilage organisms.

What is VWP steriliser made of?

Well, the first thing is, vwp is really sodium hydroxide ( cleaner) and chlorine (the killer). As most peeps know chlorine gases off, but this depends on the temp as to how quick it does this.

Do I need to rinse VWP?

All equipment should be rinsed before use. Anything left in a fermenting vessel will affect the taste. Any active bacteria feft may kill the yeast.

How do you use a VWP steriliser?

Simply disolve 1 tsp (teaspoon) in a gallon of water (2 tsp for heavily soiled containers), pour into the vessel to be sterilised, coat all surfaces in the solution and leave for 10 minutes (longer for heavy soiling). Rinse thoroughly with clean cold tap water.

Can I use VWP on stainless steel?

VWP Descaler is non-corrosive and can be safely used on Stainless Steel, Copper, Brass, Plastics and leaves no odour.

Is VWP the same as Pbw?

VWP is based on sodium dichloroisocyanurate which is a chlorine release agent. It will like PBW be an effective sterilising agent. Most likely it will be buffered, again like PBW, with silicates and carbonates. These act a cleansers.

Is VWP toxic?

Use 1 to 2 ounces per gallon for cleaning kettles, 3/4 ounce per gallon for fermenters, kegs, tanks, and other equipment. Soak equipment overnight in PBW solution; rinse the following morning – no scrubbing required! Will not damage rubber gaskets, soft metals, or your skin.
